Useful Tips While sending your cv to a Recruiter

Dear potential job seekers,

This was long pending & today since I was advising a jobseeker on tips to increase your chances of landing the right job, which we all know is so very important to our overall careers (one wrong job can cut your chances of growth by 25% even!), it is definitely important to treat our job applications with utmost care. So, I carefully compiled these tips down for you to help yourself!




When sending your cv to a prospective employer/consultant NEVER, NEVER, EVER send your cv in a blank email or by mentioning vague things like 'Im a hard worker, looking to make a great career.' If you truly are a HARDWORKER then pl include the following details WITHIN your email! Thank me later. :)

In the below format, within this email.

1> Short summary of your work experience spanning the total no of years you have been working.

2> Reason's for leaving each job (can be added inside the cv after each job or even within the email, this gives the recruiter/recruiting company more clarity & increases their interest levels in contacting you once they know your thought process, integrity levels, stability, etc).

3> Ctc drawn at previous employer & current employer (in this format fixed+variables) for eg if the fixed component is 18 lacs & the variable (performance bonus, yearly bonus, etc) is 2 lacs, you mention it as 18 lacs + 2 lacs p.a. Prev employer: 15 lacs p.a, current employer: 20 lacs p.a

Sr Officer - HR Generalist Role - Mumbai location (No outstation candidates, only local)


Designation: Senior Officer - BHR (Business HR)

Position reports to: Sr Manager - HR

Positions reporting directly to this position: HR Executive

Primary purpose of the position: Ensure proper penetration of HR policies and procedures on the floor; provide an avenue for immediate redressal of queries/ grievances; responsible for taking various HR initiatives to employees; coordinate for introducing HR initiatives such as IJPs, E-Sat Survey etc. on the floor

Essential duties / responsibilities of the position:

1.To be the first level of interface between HR & Operations for all HR related initiatives and query handling
2.Ensure implementation of HR initiatives on the floor such as POF, HR Forums, PMS, Satisfaction surveys, etc.
3.Ensure timely completion of Appraisals for all teams on the floor; KRO and Appraisal Audits and Performance Awareness sessions conducted for all employees TL and above
4.Handle all queries, grievances and escalations from agents on the floor and ensure the same are resolved within committed timelines
5.Responsible for the roll-out and closure of Internal Job Posting (IJPs) on the floor within specific time-lines; Identifying tools of assessment/ selection in co-ordination with the OD team and implementing the same for IJP selection
6.Ensure coverage of all batches in POF within one month of going live and ensure action planning for all Post Orientation Feedback (POF) conducted every month for the process. Meet up with batches to understand concerns during the training period.
7.Ensure coverage of 25% employees every quarter (who have completed 6 months with the process) through HR forums conducted for the process.
8.Ensure closure and communication of Employee Listening mechanism action plans jointly with Operations.
9.Ensure Confirmation process is run efficiently in the process; meet up with all employees’ on an EDP and effectively manage the process
10.Conduct regular refresher training on HR policies for both agents and Team Leaders to ensure clarity/awareness on HR policies and procedures.
11.Assist the Training team in the implementation of STEP / LEAD initiatives
12.Ensure the monthly MIS for the process is sent to Corporate HR MIS team by the 31st of each month.
13.Ensure the monthly Payroll data for the process is sent to Corporate HR Payroll team by the 15th of each month
14.Ensure employee concerns relating to salary, insurance claims, food coupons are resolved within committed timelines
15.Resolve queries regarding Mediclaim settlements and ensure quick resolution of the same
16.Conduct Exit Interviews for resigned employees and escalate issues, if any, arising of the interview
17.Ensure clearances for resigned employees are completed within committed time-lines
18.Investigate and give out CAP/DAP to employees found in violation of process/ company policies
19.Ideating and devising Engagement activities for the Floor
20.Responsible for controlling attrition and assist in development of policies and procedures to ensure staff retention
21.Counsel CSEs in any problems that they face

Conflict Resolution:

1.To be accessible when anyone a CSE/TL has any grievance that requires HR intervention

2.Conduct regular Open Forums to ensure open communication and devise an action plan to address issues/ concerns raised by the team

3.Respond and resolve issues arising out of work or from within a team or across departments that may have a bearing on team effectiveness

4.Need-based escalation of decisions and ensure proper follow-up of the same

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

EDUCATION: MBA or PGDBM in Human Resources preferable

MINIMUM YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 2-4 years prior experience in Human Resource in a Service Industry, Retail or a BPO; Exposure to Human Resource systems, policies and practices such as Appraisal/Payroll Reconciliation/Recruitment with previous organizations would be a plus. 8. College degree & PG/MBA preferred.
